There is a recognition in the consultation document that some people will be disadvantaged by the proposed changes because of inadequate transport. Why make changes which disadvantage some people?

We understand that travelling to our hospitals is already an issue for some people, especially given some of the rural parts of our communities. Under our proposal, most people would continue to go the same hospital as they do now. And around 8 out of 10 people (or 80%) would continue to go to the same hospital as now. Two out of three people would also continue to go to their local hospital as they do now for urgent care.

Throughout the consultation, we want to hear more about the impact on travel and transport that the options may have on people across Surrey Downs, Sutton and Merton. No decision will be made until we have looked at what we might need to do to lessen the impact for older people and people from deprived communities.
