What are we proposing?

Our vision for local health and care services

  • We want to bring together health and care services so they work in the most effective way.
  • To make sure local people have high standards of healthcare by meeting set clinical standards.
  • To keep hospital services for patients with serious or life-threatening conditions within the combined geographies of the three CCGs; NHS Surrey Downs, Sutton and Merton.

What are we proposing?

We have developed three potential options where we build a new facility for our sickest and most at-risk patients (the services we call major acute services) on either Epsom, St Helier or Sutton hospital site.

There are no proposals to close any existing hospitals, and both Epsom and St Helier hospitals will still be providing the majority of hospital services that people tend to use on any everyday basis, regardless of any other changes.

What does the model of care look like?

The majority of services will continue to be delivered from both Epsom and St Helier hospital sites, regardless of any other changes.

A small number of services do need to change to make sure our most experienced doctors are available to care for our sickest and most at-risk patients – we call these major acute services. These services need to stay together.
