If a seriously ill patient arrived at an UTC or in the unlikely event that a patient became critically unwell in the centre, they would be assessed and cared for by skilled clinical staff. If needed, then they would be and safely transferred by ambulance to the Emergency Department at the specialist emergency care hospital.
